ABOUT

FUSION 11 professional program offers dancers a focused environment to further their technical growth and artistic exploration. This week-long, all-day intensive takes place from June 12–16, 2023 at Vitacca Houston.

Participating dancers fuse classical and contemporary styles through Vitacca Ballet repertoire and classes led by an outstanding assembly of leading industry professionals including:

ABOUT 2023 FACULTY

  • FLORIAN LOCHNER and ALICE KLOCK

    Klock and Lochner met while serving as dancers and Choreographic Fellows at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. In 2017 they created FLOCK through which they perform their own work internationally and co-create new choreography for film and stage. As a team they have choreographed for multiple dance companies, universities, and cultural institutions including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Whim W’Him, Ballet Idaho, Orsolina 28, Seattle Dance Collective, Ballet Arkansas, Kultur O.H.G, the Goethe Institut, Adaptations Dance Theater, University of Iowa, Booker T Washington School for the Performing Arts, the Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA, and the 92nd Street Y. In all of their work they strive to bring artists and audiences together in environments that are open, dynamic, and based on joy.

  • Born and raised in New York City Gregory received his dance training at the Alvin Ailey School, then graduated cum laude from SUNY Purchase dance conservatory. He debuted his own company, The DASH Ensemble, in December 2010 at The JOYCE SoHo. DASH Ensemble performance credits include The JOYCE Theater, Baryshnikov Arts Center, NYLA, Guggenheim Works and Process Series, Kaatsbaan and Jacob’s Pillow as well as domestic touring all over the U.S. including venues located in Dallas, L.A., and North Carolina.

    Commission credits include festivals, companies and artists such as American Dance Festival, Northwest Dance Project, Ballet Austin Cirio Collective, Daniil Smikin’s INTENSIO, Atlanta Ballet, Central Park Summer Stage, and Hubbard Street 2 among many others. He in tandem with Director of Education Lindsey Pettus is also the co- founder of The DASH Academy, a dance and education program for developing artists ages 10-18. His collegiate and training program commissions include Juilliard, Point Park, LINES Ballet, NYU Tisch, Princeton University, Troy University, MOVENYC, and SUNY Purchase among others. Faculty positions have included Broadway Dance Center, Gibney Dance Center, The Martha Graham School, The Joffrey School, Limon 2, and Peridance. He has conducted multiple masterclasses around the country including Ballet Hispanico, Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance, UNCSA, UC Irvine, Mid- Pacific Institute, SUNY Purchase, The Hartt School, and Booker T Washington HSPVA. In addition, Gregory, alongside fellow choreographer Loni Landon, is the co-founder of The PlaygroundNYC, a choreographic initiative that was voted 25 to Watch in 2013 by Dance Magazine.

  • Jess Hendricks graduated from the University of Colorado with a BFA in Dance. Her training and education includes Perry Mansfield School of the Performing Arts, American Dance Festival, Harvard Dance Festival, EDGE Scholarship, Gus Giordano and Hubbard Dance Street.

    Her credits include commercials and industrials for Godiva, L'Oreal, Reebok, Toys R Us, Universal Studios, Volkswagen and Warner Brothers. Jess worked on the European tour of HAIR as Dance Captain for years, performed for the opening premiers of Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby and can be seen in such movies as Living Out Loud and Between The Sheets. She has danced in or been the assistant choreographer to the World Ski Championships, Elan Awards, Bob Fosse Awards, Ms. America Pageant, CARNIVAL, Dance Break and Broadway Bares.

    Jess has choreographed the New York musicals "The Shaggs," "The Book Of The Dun Cow" and "Dead City" as well as the movie musical "Free Fall." She has choreographed the music video "Just A Dress" for the Berlin Film Festival and Sofia Strati's "Mia Agapi Fotia" for Eurovision.

    Jess has taught at Universities and Festivals throughout Canada, Costa Rica, Cyprus, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway and the United States. Jess was a company member with "The Wes Veldink Movement" and Co-Created her own company "Two Peas & A Pod" in NYC. She has created work for A Great Big World and Alicia Keys Set The World On Fire Tour. Jess has debuted work at Carnegie Hall and Brooklyn Academy of Music, as well as set work at Marymount Manhattan College, Point Park University, PACE University, James Madison University, Houston METdance, Dallas Black Dance Theater Encore, DanceWorks Chicago, Wanderlust Dance Project and Dance Lab New York. Jess is currently an adjunct professor at PACE University, on faculty with 24Seven Dance Convention and a Co-Founder of Dancers Give Back Dallas.

  • Robbie Moore was born in 1991 in Los Angeles, California. He grew up dancing from age six in Houston, Texas, where he attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. In 2010, he was named Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Robbie graduated from the Juilliard School in 2014. He studied closely with dynamic anatomist Irene Dowd to learn, model and archive her body of work. Robbie toured internationally with L.A. Dance Project, under the direction of Benjamin Millepied, from 2015-2017. In 2019, Robbie moved to Belgium to work for Eastman - Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. In Antwerp, he trained under Anna Rubau to become a certified True-Pilates instructor. Robbie joined Opera Ballet Vlaanderen as a demi-soloist in 2019. While there he worked with Damien Jalet, Marina Abramović, Johan Inger, Alexander Ekman, Alan Lucien Øyen and Trisha Brown Dance Company. He currently resides in Houston working as a freelance dancer, Pilates instructor, movement coach and choreographer. Robbie works as Resident Choreographer and Guest Artist with Houston Contemporary Dance Company. He continues to work with Eastman on various projects as a performer, rehearsal director and choreographic assistant and joins Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève for the 2022-23 season under the direction of Cherkaoui.

  • Ty, from Huntington, NY, received his BFA in Dance from The Hartt School of the University of Hartford. Throughout his training he has performed works by Martha Graham, José Limón, Doris Humphrey, Doug Varone, Bryan Arias, Adam Barruch, and Manuel Vignoulle. In 2018, he trained at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance as a Company Dancer with Graham 2. In 2019 he joined the Limón Dance Company as a performing and teaching artist. In 2022, he relocated to Austin, Texas and is focused on creating opportunities for the local community to use movement as a tool for expansion and expression.

  • Alana Jones is a Houston native. As a founding member of Vitacca Ballet (formerly known as Vitacca Dance Project) under the direction of Kelly Ann Vitacca, she trained under Ballet Master Phillip Broomhead while attending the High School of Performing and Visual Arts. In 2014 Ms. Jones was accepted on scholarship and trained with the American Ballet Theatre and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Thereafter, Ms. Jones was accepted on scholarship to SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance. During her time at Purchase College, Ms. Jones was invited into the ballet concentration where she performed and studied works by George Balanchine, Norbert De la Cruz, Michelle Ulerich and Colby Damon. During her four years she also trained with Ballet X, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, and Arts Umbrella.

    Alana earned her BFA and began her professional career with Visceral Dance Chicago for two seasons upon graduating in 2018. She then went on to join BODYTRAFFIC in 2021 where she is currently a company artist.

Admission by video audition only. Submissions accepted until June 1 or until the program is at capacity.

$775 – Due at time of acceptance to secure your spot (*Financial support offered to Professional Program dancers upon email request)

No refunds are issued for any reason. If you are injured prior to the intensive, have tested positive for Covid-19 or have been exposed to Covid-19 a credit can be issued for a future intensive. Medical documentation is required.
