Company Audition

Company Auditions

Vitacca Ballet will hold Company Auditions for the 2024/2025 Season by invitation only. Auditions will be held in NYC on April 22 and in Houston on April 27. Learn more about the positions and audition process below.

Company Members

  • Vitacca Ballet is seeking versatile dancers for our 2024–25 Season beginning August 2024. Women, some pointe work required. Paid rehearsal/performance contracts through May 2025.

    As a repertoire-based company, Vitacca Ballet performs original works created by our Season Guest Choreographers. Our 23/24 choreographers include Garrett Smith, Hélène Simoneau, Robyn Mineko Williams, Sean Aaron Carmon, and Tina Kay Bohnstedt. While 24/25 Season performance dates are still being confirmed, we’re planning for three company premieres alongside several festival appearances and guesting performances throughout the season.

    Contract Dates: August 2024–May 2025
    Contract Type: Part-time
    Location: Houston, TX
    Rehearsals: Vitacca Ballet works primarily at the Houston location of Vitacca School for Dance (2311 Dunlavy St.), typically daytimes Monday through Friday. Performances and additional rehearsals will occur throughout Houston and The Woodlands, TX

  • Vitacca Ballet offers Company Artists 32-week contracts with part time salaries ranging from $15k–$20k based on experience and 3% annual raises. Contracts include weekly company class/rehearsals, 5 paid personal days, allotted shoe reimbursement, twenty onsite physical therapy sessions with Excelerate PT, and complimentary class options.

    Hired Company Artists are also welcome to submit teaching/choreography interest for consideration at one of Vitacca Ballet & School for Dance's locations.

    We are currently unable to offer visas for international applicants.

Vitacca Ballet 2

  • Vitacca Ballet seeks versatile dancers ages 17+ to join Vitacca Ballet 2. VB2 dancers are considered for Vitacca Ballet Company Artist roles as available, and receive training on scholarship with Vitacca Ballet plus performances stipends.

    Contract Dates: August 2024–May 2025
    Location: Houston, TX
    Training + Rehearsals: Vitacca Ballet works primarily at the Houston location of Vitacca School for Dance (2311 Dunlavy St.), typically daytimes Monday through Friday. Performances and additional rehearsals will occur throughout Houston and The Woodlands, TX

    • Performance stipends per performance

    • Pointe shoe allotment per season

    • Vitacca Ballet training scholarships

    • Invitations to all Vitacca summer intensives

    • Onsite physical therapy sessions with Excelerate PT

    No Professional Development Fees

Vitacca Fellows

  • Vitacca Ballet seeks versatile dancers ages 17+ to join Vitacca Fellows. The Vitacca Fellows program offers a two-year experience designed to support dancers through professional mentorship, training, and performance opportunities with Vitacca Ballet as they prepare to enter the job market.

    Fellows pay an annual professional development amount of $2000; no other fees applied

    Contract Dates: August 2024–May 2025
    Location: Houston, TX
    Rehearsals: Vitacca Ballet works primarily at the Houston location of Vitacca School for Dance (2311 Dunlavy St.), typically daytimes Monday through Friday. Performances and additional rehearsals will occur throughout Houston and The Woodlands, TX

    • Performance stipends per performance

    • Pointe shoe allotment per season

    • Vitacca Ballet training scholarships + invitations to all Vitacca summer intensives

    • Onsite physical therapy sessions with Excelerate PT

    Professional Development Fees

    Fellows: pay an annual professional development amount of $2000, no other fees applied

 

STEP 1: Video Submission

We welcome all to submit a video for consideration to attend one of our in-person auditions, either in NYC (April 22) or Houston (April 27). Video submissions will be accepted until April 19.

Please submit the following materials:

  • Audition Registration Form (linked below)

  • Current Headshot

  • Resume

  • One video link (Youtube, Vimeo, Google Drive, etc.)– please see below for requirements

  • Audition videos must include:

    • Dancer introduction with full name, resume, and headshot

    • Four to five barre exercises (one side)

    • Center adagio including développé a la seconde on both right and left, and en dehors pirouette

    • Center contemporary phrasing on flat

    • Ladies - Center pointe work including a pirouette, pique arabesque, and extension of choice

    1. REGISTER: Please register using the audition registration link below. Your confirmation email will include additional details about submitting your video audition.

STEP 2: In-Person Audition

Selected dancers will be invited to attend one of our in-person auditions, either in NYC on April 22 or in Houston on April 27.

  • Audition classes will last two hours and include ballet technique, contemporary repertory, and improvisation

  • Check in begins 30 minutes prior to audition start time

  • Please come prepared with a headshot and resume

  • Ladies should be prepared with pointe shoes for a portion of the audition process
